This week’s social-media darling is genderswapped Draco Malfoy (“Malfoid”). Without any other change to the storyline, she’s already a classic tsundere, but many fans have taken it further, adding redemption and romance. Because, let’s face it, nobody thought Harry&Ginny worked as a couple.

Saturday is for Service

The Malfoid Memes just keep on coming. It’s apparently driving the Bluesky denizens completely berserk, to the point that they bullied a well-known professional artist until she gave in and deleted her take on it.

The Apothecary Diaries 3.1, episode 1

Hits the ground running. Maomao and Shinji are currently living separate lives, but fate is bringing them back together. Also the Emperor.

Wild Last Boss 2, episode 2

The battle against Psycho Bikini Lesbian continues, interrupted by flashbacks and backfill.

Verdict: I’m really getting tired of Flashbackus Interruptus, but otherwise this was fun.

Vortex Farce, episode 1

First impression: Sexy Bad Girl does Bad Thing in orbit, and that’s a fine way to start.

Second impression: I’d complain about how they integrate the CGI into the 2D animation, but the truth is they don’t even try.

Third impression: Our Hero’s Big Sister gets a crotch closeup in the middle of her introduction. Okay, now I believe this is from the director of Strike Witches and Vividred Operation.

Fourth impression: Mom is hot. Big Sister has a bit of bounce in gym clothes. Her fight scene starts with an ass shot, then graduates to braless downblouse; saving the nipples for a Bluray release, perhaps? And the OP promises plenty more eye candy in the form of post-highschool hotties, and both OP and ED possess amusing animation and non-horrific music. And I think they made it through pretty much all of the necessary lumpy exposition to explain what’s going on.

Verdict: I think I can work with this.

(picture is unrelated, but it’s got aliens, so close enough)

Isekai Kinky Porn Game Cheat Harem, episodes 1&2

Of all this season’s shows, this is not the one where I expected them to bring their A game. Naughty, naughty A game.

Verdict: exposition-heavy, but also fanservice-heavy.

Random isekai idea

Beaten To Death For My Taste In Music, I Woke Up In A Fantasy World And Became A Legendary Bard By Serenading A Tsundere Elf Princess With Barry Manilow Songs.

(took about 30 tries to get every word to render correctly; for some reason, it really hated “serenading”, and usually gave me “serenaring”. Still faster than laying it out in Illustrator and coming up with the framing and swashes by hand, but I’ve been tinkering with the settings, and it looks like small text errors in Qwen 2.1 are reduced by bumping up CFG from 1 to 2-3, at the cost of doubling the rendering time)

Today I Learned…

…that the reason Draco Malfoy fits so easily into a female bully stereotype is that J.K. Rowling based the character on memories of the girl who bullied her at school. Which also explains why she was unhappy with the attempt to redeem him at the end of the movies.

(this is the pic that launched a thousand Malfoid memes)

As usual, hold off on Apple’s latest

Shiny new iPhone 18 Pro Max Super Ultimate Frisbee Edition doesn’t work reliably on AT&T. Just a minor issue with a minor carrier, and multiple fixes being rolled out that might eventually solve the problem. Except for the ones that just have to be replaced.

(I might be interested in the new iPad Mini that’s supposed to be out this month, but not until at least January)

Active harem versus platonic harem

Isekai Space Merc Harem, episode 1

(this one was about two hours late on Crunchy for some reason)

Flashforward intro with harem and combat, followed by an uninspired OP animation with a terrible song. It does at least show off some of the eye candy we’ll be seeing soon.

First up, Our Beautiful-But-Dangerous Noble Officer Gal. Love the way her uniform is designed to look like she’s wearing a black bra over it.

Second, Snarky Cute DFC Space Elf Gal. Our Hero Hiro likes what he sees, but can’t resist dissing her flat chest.

The episode ends with the introduction of Our Busty Teen Damsel In Distress. We’ll get a better look at her next week. Hopefully a much better look, since she’s First Waifu.

The ED is also uninspired, but at least the song is less annoying.

Verdict: what it says on the tin. As expected.

(pretty much the only recognizable piece of fan-art…)

Isekai Goblin Mayor, episodes 1&2

This one is a bit of an oddity, since it’s canon that goblins fuck like minks and it’s even a plot point that Our Goblinized Hero is too human inside to find cute wee goblin girls sexy, but he never bangs the multispecies haremettes who gather around him. Fortunately, he meets up with A Certain Libidinous Grandpa, who hooks him up with some first-rate human tail in town.

Anyway, in the first episode we get a lot of worldbuilding and the arrival of Hot Human Knight Gal, and in the second we add Legal Loli Demon Gal, who blurts out the secret of just whose power he inherited recently.

Verdict: as with Kinky Porn-Game Harem, they went with a double-episode premiere in order to get through an awful lot of exposition. Hopefully they can just tell the story from now on.

(no fan-art, so here’s a very different sort of harem)

Magical Backsies Revenge Fuck

I was stuck somewhere with my tablet and wifi, and I’d already caught up on the shows I wanted to watch, so I watched the first episode of “Magic Repo Man: Dumped by My Party, I’ll Cash In With a Cute Support Fairy to Become the Strongest!”.

Because the gals in The Jackass Party had huge animated knockers.

Setup was pretty typical, with Our Lending Hero receiving his unique support “gift” at age fifteen in his quiet village, and forming a party with Cute Childhood Friend Mage Gal and Mildly Jealous But Still Friendly Swordsguy. They recruit Friendly Cute Elf Healer Gal and set out for a life of adventure.

The catch is that his magic-lending power only levels up if they return what they borrowed once their mana recovers. Two years later, they’re relying on him in every battle but treating him like shit and refusing to return the loans, and dump him as soon as they find magic bracelets that are roughly equivalent to his power, as they understand it.

But lo! In his despair, he cries out to the heavens, and unlocks even greater storage and lending powers, along with a sinister fairy guide (with the way-too-on-the-nose name “MP”) who offers to help him take back all the mana points they kept, with interest.

Verdict: the thing that killed A-Rank Dungeon Harem for me was that the author just could not let go of The Jackass Party, even beyond death, and every time they showed up, it dragged the show down (except for the redemption of Little Blonde Titty Witch). If they can avoid that trap and introduce some decent eye candy in his new party, it might be amusing fluff. Bonus points if the evil bouncy gals get stripped and humiliated before being quickly written out of the story forever. I fear, however, that the entire premise revolves around tormenting them for repayment for a very long time.

(no fan-art to speak of, and yes, this is another Service Saturday show…)

Warning: the other kicked-out-of-the-party-so-I’m-taking-my-cheats-back show has a trailer full of really obnoxious shouting and “funny” art, so I wouldn’t try it on a bet. WTF, P.A. Works?
