Tan Teen Oni Waifu, episode 10

Okay, I’m not happy about suddenly adding a lovestruck burly shouty tranny to the cast, but at least we got a baarfight and some of Our Hero’s secret backstory. Secret even to him, in fact. Next week, the prodigal deadbeat returns.

Verdict: I’ll forgive the rare misstep, as long as they don’t give “her” too much screen time in the remaining episodes.

(someone drew recognizable Alna fan-art)

10 Years A Harem Lord, episode 10

We’re thick in plotty territory now, with The Big Bad openly revealing his location by sending a large squad of vampire maids to do in Our Hero And Friends.

This conveniently sidesteps their concerns about needing a warrant to search the place, and King and Hero make a two-man assault to clean out the undead and rescue the innocent. The fate of Our Distressed Red-Underrim-Wearing Damsel remains for next week, but it’s not exactly subtle, since she appears in the family portrait in the end credits…

Verdict: my only complaint about this show, apart from the severe shortage of Best Wolf Gal fan-service, is that I really don’t give a damn about the vampires. Most of them are pure cannon fodder, and even the “tough” ones aren’t terribly bright.

(hey, it’s got a wolf girl and a vampire; close as I can get)

Consorts and Courtesans

Lots of folks are excited by the announcement of the Toho/Amazon live-action production of The Apothecary Diaries, speculating on who they’re getting to play Jinshi. I’m much more interested in where they’re going to find all the large-breasted women they need to “flesh out” the cast.

In particular, a strong-willed, lush-bodied redheaded future Empress…

(…who deserves a lot more fan-art; it’s so bad I had to reuse this one)

XXXenophile!

Phil Foglio’s XXXenophile was easily the most entertaining adult comic of the Eighties, and nobody’s ever topped or bottomed it since.

So it was nice to see that there’s a premium limited-edition hardcover edition. Mine arrived today, and it’s great to see the material cleanly reprinted on crisp white paper. Sadly, a few stories were cut for stepping across lines that have shifted over the decades, but the vast majority are present, including the “warlike Martian babes” that I have one of the original pages of.

(unrelated, but definitely for adults…)

Pity the poor engineers at Nvidia…

…who can’t afford to run their developer blog on a web server that scales. You can download their new multiplatform offline LLM clustering tool “PAIR”, you just can’t read about it.

FYI, the app silently overwrites your LM Studio and Ollama configs, forcing them to localhost-only on a different port, and then the proxy it installs only speaks OpenAI’s API, and only if you call it from a host running their software. So you can’t set up a cluster and access it from non-clustered hosts. “Beta” indeed.

Oh, and it doesn’t check for the presence of the backend applications, just the presence of their config directories. So, if it thinks you have LM Studio installed, that’s because it found ~/.lmstudio. And if you tell it to uninstall LM Studio, it will delete that directory.

Also, it crashed the network stack on my Mac. Twice. That’s pre Beta, even by Apple standards!

Dead Oura

My Oura Ring 4 finally died for good. It was only lasting about two days, and then it just stopped charging, and the last-resort hard reset didn’t turn it back on. I looked at the optional three-year warranty on the current one, and it doesn’t seem to cover battery failure, so…

The price of focus!

Microsoft has announced a “ready-to-code distraction-free Windows experience”. As long as you have at least 64 GB of unified memory with 250+ GB/s memory bandwidth, that is.

Imagine how much hardware you’ll need once they vibe-code some new distractions! Perhaps instead of calling it “Zenith”, they should have used “Nadir”.

“The horror, the horror…”

The food-delivery service Hungryroot leans toward the faddish and fetish, but they do have some decent meals. You just have to read all the ingredients before letting them put something into your order. Quinoa and kale are some of their most popular fad foods, but they also hide broccoli in a lot of places where they shouldn’t, and replace normal ingredients with “healthy alternatives”. And, of course, they favor expensive boutique brands like Vital Farms (whose “pasture-raised” chickens aren’t, because nobody’s are).

But wait, there’s more! Browsing through their available recipes, I found something truly vile:

Kale Slaw
