Then it timed out and gave up. When I asked it to try again, it quickly tossed off some generic anime-ish doggerel. When I asked it to do what it claimed it was working on, it pulled the usual “network connection was lost” dodge (ChatGPT’s way of saying “fuck off, kid, I’m not listening”).

I knocked it down to the older 4o model, fed it the original request plus the clause that o1-mini had claimed it was working on, and it instantly produced something that mostly fit. Not as good as mine, of course, but this is the first LLM I’ve tried that’s actually made a credible attempt at it:

This went on for another 750 paragraphs before I managed to reach the stop button. When I cut it off, it was stuck in an endless debate between an empty-headed open-borders progressive fascist and a brutal anti-foreigner universal-surveillance fascist, both of whose solutions to every problem involved coercion by the state. Their bullet-pointy arguments repeated roughly every three or four rounds, with some variation as the subject rotated between pornography, child abuse, crime, and immigration.

The completely-unrelated-to-anime lyrics were clearly from overtraining the uncensored model on cheesy pr0n. The infinite loop was most likely influenced by the fact that the Qwen series of models are trained in China, with certain special needs that the uncensoring had allowed it to express.
